Did you know that Angie has writer friends? (YES, I HAVE FRIENDS JESSE. I'M PRETTY SURE YOU WERE GOING TO POST A STUPID COMMENT LIKE THIS. DX)
...erm, where was I? Oh yeah, writer friends!
So, my friend Saro, just self-published her book. She's seventeen.
Think about that for a couple of minutes. She's a fantastic writer, so here I am, advertising! Her book The Varient (yes, it's spelled like that) is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel taking place in a Utopia in the distant future.
Here's a short summary, provided by Saro~!

Amryl Laque is the daughter of Varoron, a Captain of the Puran Guard, and saddled with a rather unremarkable power; she feels useless in a sea of soldiers until a 'falling star' throws her tiny, organised and docile world into chaos. Could this silent but expressive boy she calls 'Shadow' really be one of the dangerous Varient Strain, with a power that could destroy the utopia Ryl's father tried so hard to build? Or is it really a utopia at all?

AND IT BEGINS. This opening verse is using a car crash as a metaphor. She's talking about love's woes and suckiness, and how she's driving away from it. The car crash is symbolizing a failed relationship, and how you need to move on away from it.
"Desperately close to a coffin of hope, I'd cheat destiny just to be near you" is referring to the fact that in any relationship, you always have the hope that your crush/lover/whatever will love you back, and that you would do anything for that to happen.

And I'm thinking 'bout calling on Jesus
'Cause love doesn't hurt so I know I'm not falling in love
I'm just falling to pieces
This verse should be pretty self-explanatory.
"Love doesn't hurt" This is true. Take the famous verse from the Bible which I cannot quote word for word because I'm a terrible person.
And maybe I'm not up for being a victim of love
When all my resistance will never be distance enough
"I'm not up for being a victim of love" Anna's talking about how she wasn't expecting/ready to be a casualty in the war we call love. She's singing about how it doesn't matter how much she tries to combat it, she can't get far enough away from it to completely forget about him

And it's finally quiet in my head
Driving alone, finally on my way home to the comfort of my bed

Anna's finally realized that there's no point in regretting failed relationship. She's finally found closure in the fact that she has nothing left there and she's going to go back home and forget him.

All right, welcome to 'Lyrics Dissection' with Angie!
*cheering noise* Today we'll be dissecting the lyrics that appear in the opening sequence of the popular JRPG 'The World Ends With You' made by Square Enix.
Most of you are probably like 'WTF, I thought she got over that stupid game!' Nope. You're wrong. I can't get over such an amazing soundtrack. xD
Here are the lyrics, my notes will be in bold. Most of my meanings are going to be referring to the actual game itself, so if you haven't played this awesome game and are planning to, please visit another post on this blog. If you don't care, and are not planning to play this game, then you can stay. XD

"Brain wave, main wave"
(For this line, I'm guessing this is a reference to where the Game is taking place. the Reaper's Game takes place in another frequency, which can explain the waves in this sentence.)
Psycho got a high kick

Show me your best set
(For this, it's most likely referring to Neku Sakuraba, our main character. He got killed in the beginning and is stuck in the Game with only Pins to fight with. Of course, these pins give him awesome powers, but whatever. One of the goals in TWEWY is to collect all 250+ pins and usually you have a set that works best for you.)
"Crystals, blisters"
It’s all over now
Psycho cane
You’re so keen
I need more candy canes
(Uh, this one's a weird one. For 'it's all over now' I'm guessing that's referring to when you fail a mission, or when Joshua killed Neku. As for the candy canes, that's probably for Kariya and his addiction to bean paste lollipops. It's candy.)
"Cold cake, cold break"
Freak got a high kick
Mr. Twister
Moist with roistering
(I think Mr. Twister is Joshua, because he seems to be the person who's responsible for everyone's death and blah blah blah. As for 'freak got a high kick' that must be referring to either Beat/Shiki. Both got killed during the first week, however. OORRRR. Another Joshua reference due to the fact he's a Composer and not normal when compared to Neku & Co. He's also Neku's Week 2 Partner)

"Take a bow to the moon (Bow-wow to the moon)"
(This verse makes the most sense. It's mostly alluding to Mr. Hanekoma, the Producer, who earns Neku's respect. He's also the same one that tells Neku that he needs to see past his world and open up to other people. For 'take a bow to the moon' it's referring to Sho Minamimoto who says that 'his voice will shake the moon'. Yeah.)

(This is actually my favorite verse in the entire song due to the music. The first two lines are talking about Konishi, because her kanji literally translates into: Void, West, fill, queen. Which goes with hairspay queens & and the west. The line 'they once had a dream' belongs to Rhyme because her entry fee was her dreams. 'Bells of society in the shells of their unity' is for Shiki and Eri, because Shiki takes on Eri's appearance for the Game. 'Cornet'nspinet' I'm not so sure about. 'The sound flows, follows till they're home' probably alludes to Kitaniji, due to his musical references during the cutscene before his boss battle. 'Dragged by the power of the dreams' pretty much sums up the destiny of Neku & Co because they were forced into the Game due to a bet made by Kitaniji and Joshua.)
